Major changes in the ownership of Marel hf have taken place in recent weeks. The shares previously owned by major shareholder Burðarás hf, have been transferred to the bank Landsbankinn hf. At the samt time, Eyrir Invest ehf has increased its sharaholding considerably, currently owning almost 30% in the company.
“Eyrir Invest is mainly owned by two individuals who have major interests in Marel and under the circumstances it is preferable that they take control of the company’s operation,” says Friðrik Jóhannesson, who has resigned as Director of the Board.
New director of the board is Árni Oddur Þórðarson managing director of Eyrir Invest ehf who says that, “Eyrir looks at this as a long term investment and intends to support further growth of the company.”
