Ossur teams up with leading orthopaedic company IMP

Ossur announced today that it has acquired UK company Innovative Medical Products Holdings Ltd (IMP). The company manufactures orthopaedic products and is the UK sector’s largest sales and distribution business.

An important milestone in Ossur’s expansion strategy in the European orthopaedics field, IMP enjoys a strong market position in the UK and serves a diverse range of health care professionals. The company was awarded a prestigious award for “New Product of the Year” in 2004 by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

Managing Director of Ossur Europe Olafur Gylfason said: “This is an exciting development for everyone involved. The IMP group of companies bring with them a comprehensive portfolio that complements Ossur’s current product offering very well, while their specialist knowledge and experience will strengthen our UK sales network and contribute to new development opportunities.”

IMP consists of four subsidiaries – Medistox, Technology in Motion, Ortex and IMP manufacturing. Its operations are based in High Wycombe, Blackburn and Wimbledon. The Group was established in 1980 and has close to 100 employees.
